Lang May Yer Lum Reek is a traditional Scottish greeting, which literally means “long may your chimneys smoke”, signifying historically that if a person is keeping a fire burning then they are still prosperous and healthy. In Scotland, it is often used as a New Year's greeting and sometimes as a drinking toast or to say farewell.
This A6 greetings card has a detachable handmade fused glass thistle decoration and is a unique way to send your good wishes. As well as gifting a card, you are also gifting a thoughtful ornament.
The glass is approx 6.5cm x 5.5cm and hangs from a purple satin ribbon. It’s attached with a removable glue dot, to a heavyweight white card measuring 10.5cm x 15cm. The inside of the card has been left blank for you to write your own message. The card comes with a white envelope and a biodegradable cello bag. I use recyclable/compostable and eco friendly packaging whenever possible.
The decoration is made from layers of coloured glass that are fused together for many hours in my kiln, creating a cute thistle design.
As these keepsakes are made of glass, I highly recommend that, if posting the card, you post them in a padded envelope/box for added protection.
I encourage anyone posting the card to reuse my packaging if possible, and I enclose a blank label to make this easier for you.
As these are all handmade, I never make two the same, each one is unique and will vary slightly from the photograph. I have tried to photograph as naturally as possible. The colours may slightly vary depending on the device they are viewed on.
